Since the coming in of the Democratic People’s Party of Liberia (DPPL) in recent time, it has been vocal on national issues confronting Liberia’s forward march.
Rev. David G.B. Kiamu told the Hot Pepper during an exclusive interview on October 18, 2022 that President George Weah lacks the characteristics of a visionary leader.
The DPPL Political Leader’s statement is predicated upon the shortage of rice, establishment of a war and economic crimes court, fight against corruption, bad governance, among other national issues, affecting the country at the moment.
He said President Weah is a general leader who came to power on the basis of popularity, not vision, for the country.
According to him, the Liberian Leader’s response to the shortage of rice cannot provide the necessary solution to the problem. He has therefore condemned the recent taskforce constituted by the President to address the shortage of rice on the market.
The DPPL Standard Bearer noted that the institutions and individuals named as solutions to the shortage, especially the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), have proved to Liberians that they are not result-oriented in the discharge of their official duty.
He said Liberia needs visionary leadership and not general leadership. “Visionary leader searches the root cause and provide the necessary solution to the issue,” Kiamu stated.
He urged that as Liberians are set to vote come 2023, the electorate must begin searching for leaders with visionary plans to put Liberia once again on the map of West Africa in terms of international best practice.
At the same time, the political leader of the DPPL wants the enforcement of the war and economic crimes court for Liberia before the holding of the general elections in 2023. He said by this the Liberian society will transform in line with best practice.
