PUP Chairman Kogar Congratulates Senator-Elect Jallah

The Chairman of the People’s Unification Party (PUP), Nimba County’s district #5 Representative, Samuel G. Kogar, has called on all candidates who participated in the just-ended Lofa County by-election to accept the result as was announced by the National Elections Commission (NEC) and congratulate the winner.

Addressing supporters and partisans of PUP upon his arrival at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, the Nimba County district #5 legislator congratulated the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC)-supported candidate, Cllr. Joseph Kpartor Jallah, as winner of the by-election. The PUP Chairman said, although his party’s candidate lost the election, it is democratically prudent to congratulate the winner of the by-election. He pointed out that his party has learned lessons from the by-election as to how to select people to contest on the party’s ticket. He applauded Lofa citizens for peacefully exercising their right during the by-election. He further appreciated supporters and partisans of PUP for standing by candidate Sumo Kupee.

According to the PUP Chairman, the people of Lofa County have suffered for long for representation at the Liberian Senate, and so calling for recount or re-run will still cause further delay for Lofa in having full representation at the Liberian Senate. He admonished all candidates and political parties to talk to their supporters to accept the result in the name of peace. He averred that the people of Lofa have spoken and, therefore, defeated candidates should allow NEC to certificate the winner of the election.

Representative Kogar commended his supporters and partisans of PUP for the warm reception given him during his arrival on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. He informed his followers that his trip in Ghana was purely medical, and he is medically fit. He vowed to return to his district soon to have interaction with his citizens ahead of the 2023 general elections.
