–Accuses Fahngon, Gao Feng Of Plotting The Scheme

Montserrado County’s district #10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, has brought forward serious allegations against members of the House of Representatives, accusing them of accepting a $300,000 bribe from Chinese businessman Gao Feng, also known as “The Real Minister”. According to Kolubah, the alleged scheme involved Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) Director General Eugene Fahngon, and was aimed at fabricating the Momoh David torture case to justify deportation proceedings against Michael Shio.

Representative Kolubah claimed that Fahngon orchestrated false allegations against Shio while leveraging state-owned media to manipulate public opinion.

He said the medical report from ELWA Hospital casts significant doubt on the claims made against Shio, stating that David’s injuries were caused by fire, not hot oil; there were no indications of a dog’s bite, contradicting earlier claims; and the burns occurred between January 16 and 17, 2025, not January 13, as previously alleged.

Further reports suggest that Fahngon deliberately used a known criminal, Momoh David, to tarnish Shio’s reputation. Kolubah also alleges that Gao Feng paid Fahngon $500,000—of which $300,000 was allegedly used to influence House members.

Gao Feng (The Real Minister)

The unfolding controversy allegedly occurred against the backdrop of business rivalry. Gao Feng previously faced accusations of illicit mining activities in Gbarpolu County and was fined $18 million by the Ministry of Mines and Energy in 2024. Following this, he was charged with economic sabotage, criminal conspiracy, and criminal facilitation by the government.

Additionally, Momoh David’s inconsistent statements, combined with a police report detailing his history of theft and mob justice attacks, further weaken the credibility of the torture allegations. This situation raises broader concerns about the role of state-owned media in disseminating misinformation and underscores the need for fact and integrity in the justice system.

As investigation continues, Representative Kolubah has called for transparency and accountability to ensure that Liberia’s legal framework is not compromised by political and financial interests.
