The General Overseer of the God’s Family Church International has told Liberians to be thankful to God for all He has done in Liberia since its Independence in 1847.
Ambassador Rev. Sammy David, who served as the guest speaker at the National Thanksgiving ceremony held at the Greater Refuge Cathedral, Tubman Boulevard, on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in the City of Paynesville, outside of Monrovia, stated that Liberians have reasons to tell God thank you.
He said thanksgiving is an act of expressing gratitude to God for what he has done.
Rev. David said in recent years Liberia has been confronted with the Ebola virus and the Corona virus, “but with God on the side of the country we are free from those diseases”.
Commenting on reasons Liberians must be thankful, he added that as a nation and people we are developing everyday. His Scripture reference was taken from John 6:5. He spoke on the theme, “Bread is little, but be grateful”.
The guest speaker noted that Liberia is becoming better because of God’s intervention over Liberia since its establishment. He said God will not forsake the government and people of Liberia because they fall in his plan for mankind.
At the same time, the man of God noted that Liberians need to praise God for what He has done in their lives, or God may place them on the floor.
Speaking earlier, the Religious Advisor to the Office of the President, Rev. M. Emmanuel Nimely, lauded Liberians for turning out in their numbers to grace the occasion.
The Thanksgiving Day ceremony was well attended by top religious leaders and other Liberians.
Thanksgiving Day was legislated in 1883 by the National Legislature. The purpose of the day is for Liberia and its people to appreciate God’s work in Liberia.
