As he embarks on a countywide consultation to seek approval from River Gee citizens on his plan to take part in the 2023 election, Senator Conmany Wesseh has received green light from traditional elders of the county to do so when the time comes.
Elders of Chedepo section residing in Monrovia said they will back the senator’s ambition to seek re-election as he needs time to complete his transformation agenda.
Belleh Doe, a prominent River Gee elder, said Chedepo section, which comprises of Kaytoken and Nyennuweaken chiefdoms, have agreed to give their blessing and support to Senator Wesseh to make his dream for 2023 come true.
Speaking when he welcomed the senator at Peugeot Garage Community, where elders of the two chiefdoms had converged to receive Senator Conmany Wesseh and team, Doe, a one-time candidate for the representative seat of the county, said River Gee needs an experienced technocrat in the field of politics to represent the new county at the National Legislature.
Doe emphasized that, given the admirable record he has set in the Senate and the respect he commands as a vocal critique of unfairness and injustice in the society, the people of River Gee can count on Conmany Wesseh to sail the county through difficult periods.
He underscored that until social injustices which the Senator and other advocates are out to destroy come to a complete end in Liberia, the county must not rush in seeking replacement for this talented lawmaker and son of the soil.
The Spokesman of River Gee Elders in Monrovia emphasized that it is this against this backdrop that Chedepo Section, the biggest in River Gee, is galvanizing its sons and daughters to stand up for Conmany Wesseh even though he hails from Polipo Chiefdom.
Doe’s statement at the consultative meeting has been buttressed by other well meaning sons of Chedepo Section, including Darious Parley, Jerome Tappyson and Doe Saydee, the Hot Pepper has learned.
Sources in the two chiefdoms said all of these gallant men have expressed their readiness to mobilize the section for the re-election of Senator Conmany Wesseh come 2023.
The discussion is expected to continue in the county, where Chedepo citizens are preparing to formally petition the senator at a ceremony in Jarkaken, a town with over 4,000 active voters.
The endorsement of Senator Conmany Wesseh by a populous and vote-rich section of the county just ahead of the contest in 2023 will put the senator in a comfortable position to seek similar support in other chiefdoms, including his own Polipo, before campaign opens in 2023.
