Senate Cites Ngafuan Over Refusal To Submit Printed Copies Of FY2025 Budget

The plenary of the Liberian Senate has cited the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, to explain reasons why the approved national budget has not been printed and submitted to the National Legislature.

The Senate’s decision to cite the minister, taken on Thursday, February 20, 2024, was triggered by a concern raised by Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon, Chairperson of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, based on the advise of Senator Prince K. Moye, Chairman of the Senate’s Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget.

The Senate’s instruction states that Minister Ngafuah appears on next Tuesday before the Senate’s Committee of a whole (the entire Senate) at 10:30 a.m.

The Liberian Senate on December 24, 2024 approved the National Budget in agreement with the House of Representatives, in the tone of US$880 million. But since the passage and subsequent approval of the budget, the the Senate is yet to receive the printed version in order to carry on it’s oversight responsibility.
