The National Elections Commission (NEC) on Tuesday certificated the winner of the December 8, 2020 representative by-election in district #2, Sinoe County.
The certification of Representative-elect, Samson Quejue Wiah, Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), preceded the reading of the mandate from the Supreme Court of Liberia, instructing the NEC to take jurisdiction of the matter.
Performing the certification Tuesday, April 6, 2021, the Chairperson of NEC, Cllr. Davidetta Browne Lansanah, informed the gathering that, while the people of Sinoe County’s district #2 celebrated the election of Representative Samson Wiah, the NEC Magisterial Office in Tappita, Nimba County, was besieged by vendors on Monday, who rendered vehicular services to the Commission for the Conduct of the December 8, 2020 elections.
The NEC boss said the vendors are demanding that the NEC rightfully pays them for the services they rendered the Commission during the December 2020 elections.
In remarks, Representative-elect Samson Wiah said ensuring that the true financial autonomy of the NEC is made practical will be high on his agenda. He said the failure of the NEC to pay vendors for services they rendered is a danger to the state.
Representative-elect Wiah called on citizens of Sinoe County to be united as one people, regardless of their political differences.
