The plenary of the House of Representatives has inducted into office the winner of the Sinoe County by-election, who was recently certificated by the National Elections Commission (NEC) to fill in the vacancy caused by the death of Representative Jay Nagbe Sloh of Sinoe County’s district #2.
At the induction exercise on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 during the 22nd day sitting of the 4th session of the House of Representatives of the 54th National Legislature, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Bhofal Chambers, called on the newly inducted lawmaker, Sampson Quejue Wiah, to demonstrate virtues that are required of a lawmaker.
He cautioned Representative Wiah to uphold the Constitution and defend the cause of the people who elected him during the December 8, 2020 special senatorial and by-election.
In a brief statement, the newly inducted Representative Wiah vowed to uphold the organic law of Liberia. He told members of the 54th National Legislature that he has come to join them in doing the Liberian people’s work for the betterment of the country.
He applauded the Legislature for enacting some good laws which his county, Sinoe, and Liberia at large are benefiting from. Representative Wiah also assured the people of Sinoe of a vibrant representation at the National Legislature.
He further promised to be more robust in representation, oversight and lawmaking, and emphasized that the concerns of his people will remain paramount on his agenda.
