The Alfred Kouwah School of Professional Driving has commenced its first graduation exercise for the academic year 2020/2021, graduating the first batch of 13 drivers from the school. The ceremony took place in Gbarma, Kongba district, Gbabolu County.
The commencement ceremony began with an indoor program, with some officials of government and the county counsel gracing the occasion.
Delivering the keynote address at the 1st commencement program, Tom Taweh, an aspirant of the county, noted that road safety has been an issue for centuries, and because of that the number of accidents that occur due to not following traffic rules is alarming.
The former aspirant urged the graduates, a lot of whom may be of his age group, to take their careers very seriously, cautioning them against being complacent at all times. “It is important for people to abide by the road safety laws that were created to protect them,” he said.
In their struggles for success in the larger society, Taweh reminded the graduates to understand that failure is part of success, explaining that the more they fail is an opportunity for them to learn from their mistakes and correct their past.
“Today, we stand here to solicit your support, I mean collective support, and to join the fight to redeem our people and restore hope like never before for the sake of a brighter future. Let us begin to hold ourselves up in the midst of growing challenges, and the many unfavorable conditions we all face each day. We must not feel victimize. We must not feel hopeless, my people. We must not feel helpless. Let us muster the courage to hold on”.
He also urged the graduates to help transform their country and their county, Gbaboplu where the school is based. He emphasized that they must help the people of Gbabolu County to develop and maintain the dream of Representative Alfred Koiwood.
He, at the same time, thanked the school and the instructional staff and team for what he termed the tireless effort in helping to impact knowledge into the citizens of the county.
