The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), the governing party, will on Thursday, September 7, 2023 launch its official Weah-Taylor Victory Campaign at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS), Lynch and UN Drive intersection, with the party beginning early mobilization to ensure that the day lights up the euphoria for a one-round victory.
Towards this effect, the Chairman of the CDC, Mulbah K. Morlue, alias Doctore, is at the head of galvanizing the manpower and resources. Over the weekend, Morlue ordered the heads of about 1,460 auxiliary groups in support of Weah’s re-election bid to assemble at the party’s headquarters, Congo Town, to receive what he termed the “marching mandate” ahead of the rally.
According to information, Morlue disclosed the party’s supreme strategic mandate to the leaders of the auxiliaries: locking down Monrovia on September 7 to ensure a Weah-Taylor one round victory. He projected the Thursday gathering as the biggest rally of rallies, and declared the day a CDC holiday based on the (probably) multitudes expected to converge on that day.
The CDC National Chairman sent out a message of peace and non-violence, asking CDCians to remain peaceful and to reject violent provocations at any time.
To the surprise of critics, Morlu, who was caught on tape negatively gossiping about President Weah and was expected to tender in his resignation ahead of the rally, has not been deterred but remains ardently bent on propagated Weah’s second term and working out modalities for a successful rally.
Observers who carefully monitored the audio recording claimed that it is not a recent one but portion of the same clip that was released before the 2020 senatorial by-election, evident by an individual in the recording making a remark that “it is almost two years since we came to power—next week is making us exact two years”.
However, it is still perceived that Morlu has since lost grace with the Presidency, and is leading the CDC with the encouragement of the Secretary General, Jefferson T. Koijee.
But with all these adversaries, it appears like the CDC is not distracted but prepared to contest the 2023 elections as a force to reckon with.
As it stands, President Weah and the CDC are campaigning twice as hard as any opposition political party, with the mindset of winning a first-round victory, which is likely possible.
In addition to the President’s nationwide campaign tour, the CDC has taken the Jehovah Witness campaign approach and is moving from house to house and door to door selling their achievements and platform. They are currently seen everywhere, rain or shine, winning more votes unto their side in support of a first-round victory.
As if the incumbent is still an opposition seeking state power, President Weah has taken the campaign into his own hands and mastering it like never before.
