Bong County’s district #5 Representative, Edward Karfiah, says there is an on-going consultation across the county as to his decision to contest in the up-coming 2023 general elections for the Bong County senatorial seat. “There will be no match for me if I conclude my consultation with the people of Bong and decide to contest for the county’s senatorial seat,” stated Representative Karfiah.
The Bong County representative said the people of Bong County are consulting him to consider contesting for the county’s senatorial seat come 2023. He stated that the decision for him to agree to the request of the Bong citizens to go for the senatorial seat in the next general elections will be well calculated, noting that as a two-time winning lawmaker he knows how to go for elected position. According to him, he will analyze his people’s request to contest and, after concluding, if favorite for him, he will have no competitor in 2023.
The House’s Committee Chairman on Public Accounts and Expenditure made the statement on Monday, November 22, 2021 at ICampus Liberia, when he was honored by a civil society organization in Monrovia for his immense contributions to the people of Bong County and Liberia at large. He emphasized that little did he know that people within the civil society network were observing his activities in the county.
He underscored that his developmental initiative has gone beyond the district level due to his vision for the county. He pointed out the health center project he has embarked on in Totota is one of the key projects his office is undertaking in the county, and challenged members of the civil society to keep observing them as leaders of the country in order for the right thing to be done.
The head of the Association of Civil Society Organizations in Liberia, Amos Kanneh, said the Bong County lawmaker was selected as a proud winner of the Best Lawmaker of the Year 2021 award following a competitive vetting. Kanneh explained that Representative Karfiah deserves the honor because his work at the Legislature has gone beyond the people’s expectations.
The civil society organization presented the certificate of honor to the lawmaker and also gowned him for his numerous contributions to society.
