Unauthorized Sirens, Flashers, High Beam Lights Ordered Removed!

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has cautioned the driving and general public of measures put in place for the safety of all persons across the country.

According to a LNP statement issued Wednesday, March 20, 2024, all unauthorized vehicles with high beam lights, sirens, flashers and other emergency devices are asked to be removed. Also, all right-hand drive vehicle owners are asked to take them off the streets, as such vehicles are not allowed to be driven in Liberia as per the Vehicle and Traffic Laws of Liberia.

“All non-gas station gasoline sellers (can-boys) along the main streets within Monrovia and across the country are asked to be removed,” the statement observed.

“All vehicle operators who are in the constant habit of using the opposite lane are asked to desist; all vehicles, tri-cycles (Keke) and motorcycle owners are asked to register, insure, or update their documents,” the LNP statement continued.

These measures, according to the LNP, are intended to provide an enabling environment that will protect life and create a safe means for the commotion of motorists and pedestrians.

“The Liberia National Police, after its nationwide consultations, will in the soonest time commence general inspection to ensure road worthiness and that members of the driving public are in compliance with the vehicle and traffic laws of Liberia,” the statement continued.
