Emmanuel Konoe, Ex-official of the Liberia Nursing Association

Former Vice President of the Liberia Nursing Association (LNA), Emmanuel Konoe, has recommended to the new leadership of the LNA to establish a committee to address the ethical behavior of nurses in Liberia.

According to statistic gathered, LNA has about 7,000 members of that body working in the country.

Konoe’s recommendation is predicated upon the fact that some members of the association act contrary to the norms and ethics of the institution.

Recently, Konoe contested on “Team Success” ticket for the vice president position of the LNA, but was defeated  by Benjamin Suamey, a member of “Team Integrity”.

Konoe stated that, despite his party not winning the election, they are prepared to support the forward  march of the LNA. “We are willing to provide our expertise,” he said.

He said he supports the call by the new leadership of the LNA for an increase in nurses’ salary by the Government of Liberia (GOL).

According to him, the take-home salary for nurses is adequate to address their day-to-day constraints.

At the same time, Konoe has commended the Government of Liberia (GOL) for the construction of nurses’ homes in Bomi County. He said he wants the government to decentralize the initiative to other counties.

Still on the LNA, Konoe noted that some of the problems at the LNA has been bad leadership.

The former LNA executive member called on the new leadership of the LNA to unite in addressing the challenges that the association is faced with. He said only  with unity the challenges confronting the wellbeing of  the association can be addressed.
