The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Victory Campaign 2023, headed by the Standard Bearer and President of the Republic, George Manneh, has concluded in western Liberia, comprising of Bomi, Gbarpolu and Grand Cape Mount counties, with the masses reassuring Weah of his re-election come October 10, 2023.
The victory campaign was halted for 48 hours on Wednesday, August 23, after the visit to Bomi County due to the tragic accident along the Bong-Nimba highway involving the Girls For Weah. However, it resumed on Friday and continued to other parts of western Liberia.
Jubilant citizens from diverse backgrounds of Gbarpolu County, on Friday, welcomed and gowned President George M. Weah for his development marks on them and delivered the county to him as a place of “no-go zone” for the opposition.
“We are gowning you so that you will go back and work for us,” the elders said on behalf of the citizens. “So we, the land owners and the elders, from today onward, as we go forward, we want to tell you, Mr. President, that Gbarpolu is for you.”
The joyful citizens, lined up from the entrance of the city of Gbopolu to the football field, where the official program was held, wore the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) T-shirts with placards: “Thank you President Weah for the development”, “We welcome you to Gbarpolu County and thank you for the street lights”, “Thank you for the Emirate Hospital, your one round victory on 18th Street is sure”.
The citizens, who spoke in separate remarks, rained development praises on the President and guaranteed his second-term victory in every nook of the county.
“Thank you for sustaining the peace and the numerous development initiatives in our country. With a resounding victory, I say to you that Gbarpolu will sign on a [an] one-round victory and will be a part of the history making in Liberia,” Representative Alfred G. Koiwood of the county, who is a senatorial candidate, said.
In the county and in Liberia, President Weah is on record for constructing the Emirate Hospital that will address the medical needs for western Liberians and others, construction of roads, installation of street lights there, free tuition of public school, and WASSCE fees payment of junior and senior high school students nationwide.
Citizens of the three districts of the county assured the President of an undeniable victory for his second term come October 10, 2023, so that he continues his development agenda, especially the pavement of Gbarpolu roads and other major projects that will remind them and their children’s children about President Weah’s development initiatives forever.
Filled with joy to speak before a sitting President, Gbarpolu County’s market women’s head, Martha Massalley, thanked the President for the numerous development initiatives the CDC-led administration has undertaken.
Cleverly, she appealed to the President to construct market halls in the county, which she said will ease the challenges they face at present.
Still in Gbarpolu County, the President stopped at Gbarma District and interacted with the citizens. There, the citizens outlined challenges they face. They pointed out that the county is considered a minerals-rich one, but it has no impact on them.
President Weah, in mourning mood for the loss of his partisans and Senator Daniel Naatehn of the county, called for a moment of silence for the fallen citizens.
“l came to you when l did nothing and you voted me. I thanked you for electing me,” President Weah told the excited citizens of the county. “You are praising me for the level of development. Thank yourselves.”
The President, who is seeking second term, mesmerized the joyful citizens, saying, “Do not vote people who spent 12 years and never did anything for you. What are they coming to rescue after squandering opportunities?”
He noted that development is a process and not an event, telling the citizens to re-elect him so that he can complete his development agenda throughout Liberia.
In a patriotic tone, President Weah told the people of Gbarpolu, especially the first-time voters, to vote their future, which is his reelection on October 10, so that he keeps fulfilling his development platform for Liberia and its citizens.
President Weah ended his Gbarpolu County campaign with consultative meetings with stakeholders on Saturday, August 26, 2023 and entered Grand Cape Mount County during the evening time of the day, where he was received by a gigantic crowd at Gbah-Foboi Bridge.
In Grand Cape Mount, the President dedicated the Voinzuah Youth Center, constructed by the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE), interacted with the residents of the town as well as Garwular District and headed to Robertsport.
A political rally/engagement was held at the Robertsport football field, where thousands of the residents gathered to thank and appreciate the President and assure him of a resounding victory in October.
On Sunday, President Weah dedicated the Bo-Waterside Market Building, also constructed by LACE, which the residents have described as a great relief and an economic boast for them living in that part of the county.
After his interaction with the residents, the President and his entourage departed Bo-Waterside for Bambala, Porka District, where he made brief stops to interact with the residents there.
Awaited by thousands of residents, President Weah proudly entered Kinjor late Sunday evening and dedicated the Daniel F. Tolbert Academic and Vocational School, constructed by Bea Mountain Company for the people of the county.
Another mass political rally was held in Kinjor, where President Weah vowed to continue his development spree in the county if elected come October 10, 2023, reiterating his plea for the people to give him first-round victory in the 2023 general and presidential elections.
