“ANC In Disarray”; Taa Wongbe Claims

A former stalwart of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), a constituent party of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), has recommended that leaders of the CPP fix the too many problems within the party, reconcile its members and dispel the rumor that Alexander B. Cummings is only in the race to drain the votes from the Unity Party (UP) to support the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in the second round.

Taa Wongbe claimed that the ANC is in complete disarray, providing a number of outstanding issues that are yet to be resolved in the party while Cummings is spending thousands, if not millions, of dollars to appease new members.

Wongbe alleged that ANC’s office in Nimba County is about to be locked for failing to settle US$510 owed the landlord, disclosing that members of the Nimba chapter resigned a few months ago but Cummings allegedly said on radio that he does not need them.

According to him, the Chairman of ANC’s Grand Bassa chapter currently feels disenfranchised because Lewis Brown and others are being prioritized over them. Also, he alleged, other chairmen and chairladies of other counties are on the verge of quitting and pledging their support elsewhere.

Wongbe further alleged that supporters of the ANC are complaining about the lack of momentum, and that Cummings lacks relationship and does not care for them. He said they are claiming that the Standard Bearer pays attention to new people and not to those who have suffered with him.

“Members and supporters feel that the party is being remote-controlled by members in the US and Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf. They are now circulating news that he is only in the race to support CDC in the second round to potentially take over the CDC after President George M. Weah. Supporters can’t fathom why Cummings still doesn’t have a house in his home in Maryland when he’s spending hundreds or millions on everything else. They are questioning if he’s really here to stay,” Wongbe explained in his Facebook post.

He noted that he has received countless complaints from supporters, but have made them to understand that he is no longer a member of the ANC.

Wongbe’s allegations come barely a week to Cummings naming his running mate for the 2023 general and presidential elections. It is expected that Cummings running mate will come from Grand Bassa County, as he earlier disclosed that he would name his running mate in the person’s county of origin. The program has been set for Saturday, May 27, 2023 in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

If Wongbe’s allegations have any iota of truth, then the entire CPP is a composition of parties with mixed complications. The other constituent of the CPP is the Liberty Party (LP), which is halfway divided, and its Political Leader, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, Vice Chair for Political Affairs, Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, and other leaders and partisans not even supporting the CPP.

With all the loud noise in the political arena for 2023, the CPP may just not be as strong as people may think, leaving the frontrunners to be the Unity Party (UP) and the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
