Appleton Foundation Puts Smiles On Market Women’s Faces
Former presidential candidate in the 2023 general and presidential elections and CEO of Appleton Foundation, Edward Appleton, has broken ground for the construction of shelter for the market women at Plantain Field, Gobachop, Omega Market, and for the construction of a hand pump and toilet.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony on October 30, 2024, Edward Appleton underscored the need for citizens who have the means to rally their resources to help the marketers.
Appleton emphasized that it is incumbent on those with financial power to be reminded that marketers are in dire need of help in the country.
He vowed that his foundation would strive to ensure that the marketers’ needs are provided. He admonished the marketers to remain steadfast in what they do. “Liberia is a great country, but our worth is not in the common people; so we as Liberians need to stand up now, especially those at the grassroots level,” he stated.
At the same time, the Superintendent of Omega Market’s Plantain Field, Helena Vaye, expressed appreciation for the kind gesture of the Appleton Foundation and for coming to their aid.
Vaye stated that the Appleton Foundation is, so far, the only organization that has put smiles on their faces, by coming to their aid during these difficult times.
