The Golden Image Award is Liberia’s own award of heritage that highlights everything that Liberia has, and its people.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee, welcomed the guests and told them to feel at home.
“As we celebrate the country’s 175 years of independence, we are glad that we are celebrating it with you, I am glad that, even in America, you try to bridge the gap by creating a platform were African-Americans can be recognized and be celebrated,” said Mayor Koijee.
Making remark, the CEO and Founder of the Hollywood African Prestigious Award in California, Tina, expressed her excitement about being in Liberia.
She further stated that her mission is to bridge the gap. “My mission is to bridge the gap, but I think in my mind that there is no more gap; the bridge has been built. We just got to keep bringing our brothers and sisters back so we can just continue to be one and love one another.”
