A Representative-Aspirant for district #1, Nimba County, Musa Mark Kamara, wants government officials to take drug test annually to ensure that drug abuse is curtailed in the society.

Aspirant Kamara stated that testing public officials  about drug abuse will demonstrate in concrete terms the fight against illicit drug from entering the country.

Aspirant Kamara made the assertion Sunday in Jacob Town in Paynesville when he declared his intention to contest in district #1 to replace the current lawmaker of the district.

He underscored that the fight against illicit drugs and drug abuse should be tackled collectively to protect and prevent the further abuse of the youth. According to him, drug abuse has affected the youthfulness of several young people across the nation.

Aspirant Kamara maintained that the drug law, which is still in committee room, should proffer drug testing for public officials and employees to prevent the abuse of illicit drugs among workers.

He noted that the future of many youth have been destroyed as a result of taking illicit drug, and to save the next generation of Liberian youth laws should be enacted to battle the transporters, dealers and the abusers of drugs in the country.

He asserted that President George Manneh Weah and his government have no intention to arrest or fight drug abuse, noting that he was questioned in America for associating with a drug dealer.

At the same time, Aspirant Kamara emphasized that the current lawmaker of district #1, Nimba County, has failed to represent the people adequately at the 54th Legislature. He claimed that the lawmaker is concerned with his loan scheme.

He alleged that Representative Samuel Brown is a businessman who lacks the capacity to advocate for the people in the district.

He promised to ensure that the people of district #1, Nimba County, unite to move the district’s development forward if he is elected in the pending presidential and general elections in 2023.
