Amidst its alleged involvement in human rights violations, as recently claimed by the Independent National Commission on Human Rights, Bea Mountain Mining Corporation has bagged the 2021/2022 Most Outstanding Mining Corporation of the Year from the National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL).

Presenting the accolade, on behalf of NACSUL, to the management of the company on Thursday at the Royal Grand Hotel in Monrovia, the President of NACSUL, Amos B.S. Kanneh, asserted that during their assessment it was established that the mining corporation has immensely been contributing to the Liberian economy.

Kanneh underscored that during its ten years of operation Bea Mountain Mining Corporation has been consistent in delivering its corporate social responsibility, paying taxes and buttressing government’s efforts in the provision of jobs for thousands of citizens, which he said has, among other things, triggered NACSUL’s decision to bestow the honor.

He further indicated that the Bea Mountain Mining Corporation, based in Grand Cape Mount County, has also been working in the confines of the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) since it began operation in the country. Beyond that, he said, the corporation has been involved with the construction of major bridges, hand pumps, market buildings, mosques, town chiefs residences, resettlement homes for community dwellers and roads in the concession areas. He said the corporation has also been providing education subsidies for needy students of the county, as well as been involved with the construction of clinics to cater to the health needs of the citizenry residing in and around the Bea Mountain concession area.

The National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) has admonished the management of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation to use the award to double its workings in the interest of the Liberian people.

President Kanneh further averred that NACSUL has no doubt that the company management will continue to contribute to the revenue envelope of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) government.

Meanwhile, receiving the award on behalf of the management of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation, Jennifer Bunadin, lauded the National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) for recognizing the contributions of the corporation.

Bunadin dedicated the honor to the management and hardworking staff of the corporation, and termed the accolade as a motivating factor to serve the country. she used the occasion to admonish Liberians to support each other in activities they undertake.

According to Bunadin, many citizens are unfortunately focused on promoting the negative image of their colleagues, instead of seeking the positive workings of fellow Liberians.
