Grand Cape Mount County Representative-elect, Bintu Massalay, has extended a hand of friendship to all constituents opposed to her election in the just-ended political process in the country.

The newly elected lawmaker said as the election comes to a close, there is a need for citizens to put aside their differences and join hands in promoting the district’s development agenda.

Bintu Massalay, the youngest female to represent the county in the lower House of the legislature, said her goal is to end disunity among the people of district #1 and promote peace and reconciliation.

The twenty-six years old student of Cuttington University won on the ticket of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) with over seventy percent of the total votes cast.

Speaking to this paper minutes after she was announced winner of the highly competitive contest, Massalay said she expected the victory considering the overwhelming support she has always enjoyed from the people of Porkpa and Gola Konneh districts, which fall within her electoral district.

She emphasized further that the two administrative districts were the driving force behind the victory, which comes as a surprise to her detractors.

Bintu Massalay pledged to stand by the citizens of Porkpa and Gola Konneh districts, and Grand Cape Mount County in general, as a way of showing appreciation for the loyalty and support to her political drive.

The new lawmaker noted that when inducted into office early next year she will advocate for better education, excellent healthcare delivery and the rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads throughout the district.

For his part, the father of the newly elected Bintu Massalay, Idrisa Massalay, lauded voters in the district for living up to their promise, and urged them to be proud of their decision to support his daughter’s election.

He disclosed that the new lawmaker will tour the district following her induction in January to formally thank and express appreciation to the people for their support.
