Blue Star Hi-Tech Liberia Limited, a prominent lottery operator, has been contracted by the Government of Liberia (GOL), through the National Lottery Authority (NLA), to manage and operate the National 5/90 Ball Lotto Game.

This initiative aims to enhance national revenue generation, create employment opportunities, and promote a transparent and well-regulated lottery industry in Liberia.

Blue Star Hi-Tech Liberia Limited was granted the exclusive right to operate the 5/90 Lotto Game by the NLA on February 20, 2025.

During the signing ceremony, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Clement Adu Sarpong, stated that the project is expected to employ more than 1,500 Liberians across the country for now.

Amidst the government’s move to address the growing rate of unemployment across the country through various policies as contained in the ARREST agenda, the efficiency of these programs often seems more promising on paper than in reality.

As part of its rollout plan, the recruitment of POS agents commenced on April 14, 2025, in Montserrado, Margibi, Bong, and Nimba counties, following comprehensive marketing and visibility studies.

A total of over 900 applicants applied for the position of POS agents, with 799 from Montserrado, 28 from Bong, 52 from Nimba, and 48 from Margibi County. Training for the selected agents is scheduled to begin on today, Monday, November 10, 2025.

The initiative will provide job opportunities for Liberia’s youth, coupled with additional revenue generation for the country.

The NLA 5/90 Lotto is one of Africa’s most popular lottery games. It is a game of chance in which players select five numbers from a pool ranging from 1 to 90. The game offers multiple prize tiers and several opportunities to win.

Because the 5/90 Lotto is a game of chance, every number combination has an equal probability of being selected. There is no statistical method to predict or determine winning numbers in a fair and unbiased lottery system.

Draws are held daily from Monday to Saturday, where five balls are randomly selected out of 90; this is known as the original 5/90 game. When a player’s selected numbers match any of the five numbers drawn, the player wins. The 5/90 Machine Number refers to the last five balls drawn during a draw.

“The NLA 5/90 Lotto features two daily draws: Gold Draw – 2:00 p.m.; Diamond Draw – 8:30 p.m.

“To play, visit any of our POS agents in your community, pay a minimum of L$50, and select any number from 1 to 90. You will receive a printed ticket, which is required to claim your prize.

“Winners can collect their cash through POS agents via Mobile Money (MoMo) or Orange Money, or by visiting the head office located on 18th Street, 4th Floor, AMIR Building, Monrovia,” a release stated.

“You can also watch or listen to the live draws at 2:00 PM and 8:30 p.m. daily. The NLA 5/90 Lotto Draw Room is located at the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) compound in Paynesville.”

The official launch of the NLA 5/90 Lotto is scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2025, beginning with an indoor program, followed by an outdoor jamboree.
