Bukonjadeh Boss Warns Against Electoral Violence
The Chief Executive Officer of the Bukonjadeh Group of Companies has warned Liberian youth against electoral violence during the campaign time.
Elton Johns stated that the youth of Liberia should ensure that peace and stability are maintained and sustained.
Johns made the assertion Monday in Monrovia as the National Election Commission (NEC) prepares to declare national campaign for presidential and legislative elections throughout the country open in August.
According to him, the young people should not dance to the tone of politicians to create confusion and violence around the nation, noting that election will come and go but Liberia and its people will continue to exist.
He underscored that maintaining the peace and stability are crucial toward the socio-economic development of Liberia, and any eruption of electoral violence during and after elections will undermine the stability of the state, which would prevent investors from investing in Liberia.
Johns maintained that politicians should be peaceful in their campaign messages to the people rather than threating the peace and creating confusion among the people.
He noted that peaceful elections will benefit every side within the electoral process, and all participants should engage the process with patriotism.
He asserted that Liberia is the only country Liberians have, belongs to every Liberian, and that the peace and stability are the responsibility of all Liberians despite their status in the society.
Johns emphasized that without peace and stability the nation’s development cannot move forward, and election should not be the cause of Liberia sliding into flame again, but every Liberian should exercise restraint during and after the election, whether they win or lose.
