Bukonjadeh Celebrates 16thAnniversary

The Bukonjadeh Group of Companies over the weekend celebrated its 16th anniversary with a one-day football tournament held at the D-Tweh High School pitch in the Borough of New Kru Town, Bushrod Island.

  The tournament brought together four teams:Bukonjadeh Team, the VOA Old Timer Association Team, Boyasa Team and Babylon Old Timer Team, to exhibit talent and good sportsmanship.

  During the first round of the game, Bukonjadeh defeated VOA Old Timer Association four goals to one, while Boyasa flogged Babylon three goals to one.

  The grand final was held between Bukonjadeh and Boyasa, in which Bukonjadeh defeated Boyasa two goals to one after a full-time of play.

  The organizer of the tournament, under the supervision of Bukonjadeh, put up cash prizes of L$25,000 for first place, L$15,O00 for second place, L$5,000 for most disciplined team, and L$5,000 for the best player in the game.

  The tournament brought together supporters from Logan Town, New Kru Town as well as friends and fans of Bukonjadeh.

  Bukonjadeh, as the winner of the tournament, walkedaway with the first prize of L$25,000 while Boyasa, the runner-up, got the second prize of L$15,000. Also,Bukonjadeh took the L$5,000 for the most disciplinedteam of the tournament, while Bukonjadeh’s player,Leonardo T. Tawalid, got the LD$5,000 for the Golden Boot in the tournament.

  Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bukonjadeh Group of Companies, Elton Johns, stated that the tournament was intended to foster peace and unity among Liberians from all walks of life, while the company celebrated its 16th anniversary.

  Johns underscored that it is the Almighty God who had made it possible for the company, which is involved with micro-finance business and construction as a Liberian-owned company, to celebrate 16 years.

  He pointed out that the company was established in 2008 at the University of Liberia’s campus on Capitol Hill, and since then it has strived to provide loan services and construction work to the Liberian people.

  According to him, the company has braced the storm that Liberians cannot do business, which has undermined the potential of several Liberians in the private sector.

  Johns noted that integrity and trustworthiness are the hallmarks of any successful business venture in the world,and these are some of the pillars that Bukonjadeh has stood on to achieve its success stories so far.

  He maintained that there is a need to establish Bukonjadeh Bank in the near future in Liberia, noting that Liberians have the capacity and ability to establishreputable banking institutions to enhance the financial status of the people.

  He explained that working with government ministries and agencies in the micro-finance loan scheme has benefitted several Liberians in many ways in terms of improving their living standard.

  Johns emphasized that growing up in a slum community cannot stop any individual determined to achieve his or her ambition in life, but young Liberians should develop positive minds to transform their status in life.

  According to him, drug abuse and violent behavior are affecting many young people across the nation, and they need to desist from such acts.

  For his part, the Manager of the Bukonjadeh Group of Companies, Leonardo Tawalid, said sports unify people,and organizing the Bukonjadeh one day tournament wasto bring Liberians together to have fun among ourselves.

   Manager Tawalid noted that the election of 2023 created serious division among families members and friends, but the game of football can help to unify people from all walks of life.

  He expressed thanks and appreciation to all customers of the company for working along with them over the years.
