The Ministry of Justice, through the County Attorney of Montserrado, has formally petitioned Criminal Court “A”, Temple of Justice, to assign the Capitol arson case for trial on Thursday August 28, 2025.

The case was brought against over a dozen defendants—including former peaker Fonati Koffa, Representatives Dixon Sebo and Abu Kamara, Kivi Bah, Jerry Pokah, Stephen Broh, Christian Koffa, and several others.

Court records indicate that the matter was formally received by the Assistant Clerk of Criminal Court “A” on August 22 at 10:40 a.m.

While full details of the incidents remain sealed, legal analysts suggest that the matter could have political undercurrents, given the inclusion of known community leaders and former public officials among the accused. Some critics argue that the charges may be part of a wider political crackdown, while government officials insist the rule of law must prevail regardless of status or affiliation.
