The Government of the People’s Republic of China has donated a major consignment of logistical supplies to the Liberia National Police (LNP) to strengthen its operational capacity and enhance public safety across the country.

The donation includes 90 motorcycles, 3,000 sets of police uniforms, 1,000 leather shoes, 1,500 police hats, 500 boots, 1,500 under T-shirts, 1,500 raincoats, 1,100 DMR handheld digital radios, and 55 handheld dual mode radios.

At the official handover ceremony, held at LNP Headquarters in Monrovia, H.E. Yin Chengwu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Liberia, described the donation as a direct outcome of discussions between President Xi Jinping and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation.

He emphasized that the supplies are intended to improve the mobility, communication, and daily duties of the LNP, while supporting community policing and rapid response operations.

The Ambassador noted that the gesture reflects China’s commitment to helping Liberia strengthen its law enforcement capacity, supporting the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, and deepening the long-standing strategic partnership between the two nations. He maintained that public security is vital to national stability and the wellbeing of the people, and that these supplies will contribute to creating a safer environment for all Liberians.

Receiving the donation, Inspector General Gregory O.W. Coleman expressed profound appreciation to the government and people of China. He described the gesture as a clear demonstration of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect between Liberia and China.

IGP Coleman assured that the supplies will be used for their intended purpose, adding that they will significantly boost the operational readiness of the LNP and improve its ability to serve and protect the Liberian people. He reaffirmed the police dedication to maintaining peace and security across Liberia while strengthening bilateral cooperation with international partners.

This donation, according to the LNP, marks another milestone in the China Liberia partnership, reinforcing shared goals of peace, security, and development.
