Concrete House In Exchange For False Testimony?
A shocking revelation has emerged, exposing an alleged conspiracy orchestrated by Eugene Fahngon to fabricate a false torture case against Chinese businessman Michael Shio. According to a bombshell disclosure by Bendu Kamara, a resident of Congo Town Back Road Community, Fahngon allegedly promised to build a concrete house for notorious criminal Momoh David and pay US$500 to each person willing to lie against Shio. Kamara made the revelation on Kear Radio, sending shockwaves across the country.
According to Bendu Kamara, “Eugene Fahngon is programming people in the community, telling them what the boy (Momoh David) should say when he comes with the radio recording. Fahngon pays US$500 for each person to lie, and he even asks how much you want. Once you agree to lie on the Chinese man, he will pay you! Fahngon promised Momoh David and his mother that he would cover all expenses in this case and replace the zinc roof of their family house with a concrete structure. He even programmed people to set fire to the Chinese man’s fence to burn his compound.”
This revelation strengthens claims that the torture case against Shio was a deliberate conspiracy. Fahngon is accused of coaching Momoh David to fabricate a complaint, misleading the justice system while abusing his power as Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS). Not only did he allegedly use the state-run broadcaster to spread false claims; he also allegedly used an official LBS vehicle to transport David to the House of Representatives—seemingly to stage a spectacle and manipulate public perception.
A video posted on Fahngon’s Facebook page on February 12, 2025, shows him detailing the alleged torture, with David only offering simple affirmations. Fahngon initially claimed that David was caught stealing from Shio’s construction site on January 13, 2025, and was hospitalized the same day. However, he later stated that David was detained at Shio’s compound for three days, allegedly leaving only on January 16, 2025. This blatant contradiction casts serious doubt on Fahngon’s narrative.
Police records further contradict Fahngon’s claims. Authorities confirm that David was apprehended at around 9:00 a.m. on January 13, 2025, while stealing a solar panel from Shio’s construction site, located opposite R.C. Lawson School. By 10:30 a.m., he was taken directly to Zone 3 Police Station. The police charge sheet further reveals that while being transported for medical attention by Shio’s security due to prior injuries, David deliberately shook the motorcycle, causing it to fall, and escaped. Despite this, he never reported an alleged torture case to the police.
Additionally, an ELWA Hospital medical report entirely refutes Fahngon’s allegations. The records confirm that David was admitted on January 17, 2025, with burns sustained within 24 hours before admission—on January 16, 2025. This timeline disproves Fahngon’s claim that David suffered hot oil burns on January 13, 2025. Furthermore, the report makes no mention of dog bites or pepper spray injuries, further discrediting Fahngon’s accusations.
Fahngon’s actions appear to be part of a larger political and legal agenda. On July 25, 2024, he had posted a picture of Shio alongside Gao Feng on Facebook. At that time, Gao Feng had been fined by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and charged by the Ministry of Justice with economic sabotage, criminal conspiracy, and facilitation in the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Gbarpolu County for illicit mining, valued at US$18,124,923.60.
This connection raises serious concerns. Analysts believe Fahngon used Momoh David to fabricate the torture allegations against Shio as a diversionary tactic, manipulating public opinion and attempting to smear Shio’s reputation. By abusing state resources and spreading falsehoods, Fahngon has not only misled the public but has allegedly cast a shadow over the integrity of President Joseph Boakai’s administration.
