CPP Accuses CDC Agents of Attacking Lewis Brown
The Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) has accused the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) of attacking a member of presidential hopeful Alexander B. Cummings’ campaign team, Ambassador Lewis Brown, on the night of Monday, December 5, 2022 on Capitol By-Pass during his appearance on a local radio station.
Ambassador Brown was attacked by some unknown persons on Monday night during his appearance on a radio talk show. Brown has of recent been vocal on the government since his appointment on the Team Cummings 2023. He announced last week a plan to have a big political rally on December 17, 2022 under the caption, “We Tiyah Suffering”. The political rally, which is intended to call government attention to bad governance, is initiated by CPP.
Addressing reporters on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 a member of team, Cummings campaign team, George Wisner, said the attack on Ambassador Brown was done by agents of the government. He condemned the act and called on civil society organizations, religious community and other stakeholders to do the same. According to him, the act has the tendency of undermining the peace of the country.
For his part, Ambassador Brown said the Monday night attack on him was done by agents of government sent by Mayor Jefferson Koijee and President George M. Weah. Brown said no amount of tactics by the ruling party will stop him from criticizing the CDC-led government. The former Information Minister underscored that the December 17 political rally is a must and nothing can stop it. “Liberians will come out December 17 to express themselves. We are tired suffering and we will come out,” he said. He indicated that come 2023 President Weah will be voted out because he is not fit to lead, and he is not a leader.
According to Brown, since the pronouncement of December 17 rally by the CPP, the government is worrying and therefore imploring tactics to put fear in the planners of the rally. Brown admonished others from opposition political parties to be a part of the rally because it is in the interest of the citizens. He claimed that any opposition political party which will not join the rally will be telling citizens that all is well with the country.
