The Ministry of National Defense has released the calendar of events of activities and dates befitting the 69th Armed Forces Day (AFD) celebration, and extended pre-Armed Forces Day felicitations to H.E. Joseph N. Boakai, President and Commander-In-Chief of the AFL, the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Unit Commanders, and the gallant men and women of the AFL ahead of the main celebration.

According to the itinerary released by the ministry, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, a 7.5K Marathon Walk/Run was held from Old Road Catholic Junction to the Barclay Training Center in memory of LT CDR Venus Dean Nelson, and on Monday, February 2, 2026 was the parade rehearsal, issuance of uniforms and other preparations.

On Tuesday, February 3, 2026 an Armed Forces Day Symposium was held at the EJS Ministerial Complex, Congo Town, under the topic, “Building an Effective Inter-Agency Framework: Combating Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime through Coordinated National Security Efforts”.

Wednesday and Thursday, February 4—5, 2026 is the continuation of rehearsals and Issuance of Uniforms. On Friday, February 6, 2026 a Jummat Service will be held at the El Habibou Poukou Mosque, Careysburg, Montserrado County, at 11:00 a.m., followed by sporting activities (soccer, kickball and volleyball) at the BTC Barracks among UMU, AMEU, LonestarCell MTN and MOD/AFL.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, the AFL will conduct civil-military operations: a clean-up campaign will be held from Coca-Cola to Redlight and Du-Port Road Junction beginning at 6:30 a.m.; and a medical outreach at Gboryoumue Clinic, Margibi County, at 7:30 a.m.

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, a Thanksgiving Service will be held at the Abundant Life Church in Harbel City, Margibi County, at 10:00 a.m.

Wednesday, February 11, 2026 is the official celebration, which will begin with the hoisting of the nation’s flag at BTC, followed by the Armed Forces Day Parade at the BTC Barracks, and then the Officer’s Ball/Dinner at the Executive Pavillion.    Since legislated in 1957, February 11 each year has been celebrated as Armed Forces Day (AFL) to honor and reflect on the bravery, gallantry, and depth of patriotism the men and women in arms exhibit in defending the country’s national security and territorial integrity.
