The Director General of the Liberia Business Registry (LBR), Patience B. Randall, has vowed to decentralize the activities of the institution across Liberia, stating that it will strengthen the registration of businesses in the various counties.

Director Randall made the disclosure over the weekend when she was honored as the Best Performing Director General of the year 2024/2025 by Excellent Media Incorporated, held at the LBR’s head office in Monrovia.

She urged Liberians and foreigners who intend to establish businesses to go to LBR, rather than finding other people to register their businesses.

She noted that those who are in the habit of sending others to register businesses on their behalf are responsible for the delay in their registration processes.

Director Randall disclosed that it takes three days to register a business in Liberia—if the individuals go to the Customer Service Department to obtain their business certificate.

She pointed out that, although the system has not yet been digitized, they are effective and efficient with the manual system and hoping that partners will assist to implement the digitalization of the LBR in the near future.

She acknowledged the assistances provided by the World Bank and other partners to help renovate the LBR building to be presentable.

According to Director Randall, the LBR is a one-stop shop center for business registration, and hosts sub-branches of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) and the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA). She stated that the LBR is an arm of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry that handles all matter relating the registering a business.

She explained that LBR is a service provider for both Liberians and foreigners who want to open businesses in the country. She observed that if the rules and regulations of the LBR are followed, registration a business can be easy and fast.

She expressed appreciation to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for giving her the opportunity to serve the country in this capacity, and promised to emulate the good example of President Boakai to move the development of the nation forward.

Director Randall emphasized that the World Bank and LBR are working together to ensure that an online registry platform is launched to further enhance the registration process of businesses in Liberia.
