A delegation from Facebook and the West Africa ICT Action Network paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah Sr., on Monday April 11, 2022.

During the meeting, the head of the delegation, Ebuka Ogbodo, who is the Manager for Public Policy for West Africa of the Facebook group, lauded the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications for accepting their invitation.

She further noted that her group hopes to partner with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on projects and programs that will help develop the ICT sector in Liberia. She named training, spectrum management, consultancy on data protection and several other issues in relation to ICT policies and strategy in the connectivity of Information Technology in Liberia.

Facebook, which is now called Meta, is an American multinational technology conglomerate based in Menlo, California. Meta Technology Company is the parent organization of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, among other social platforms.

For his part, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications expressed his appreciation and welcome the delegation, and said that the Ministry is always open to partner with groups and organizations for possibilities that will foster the growth and development in the ICT sector of Liberia.

He then outlined few developments under his administration, some of which include the Universal Access Program, automatization of the Ministry’s postal service, the approval of the new ICT policy, the data protection act which is currently being discussed by stakeholders, among others.

The minister used the occasion to present two copies of the ICT policy to the delegation.
