The Federation of Fula Students of Liberia (FFUSOL) has inducted a new leadership. The ceremony was held at the University of Liberia Auditorium in Monrovia.
Speaking during the induction ceremony, the Ambassador-At-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia, Sheikh Al Mustapha Kouyateh, challenged Fula students to remain focused on the education sojourn to help transform the development of Liberia.
Sheikh Kouyateh stated that Liberia was founded as the result of liberty of the black race from slavery.
He maintained that Liberia will not develop if Liberians are discriminating against other people who are making significant contributions toward the growth and development of the nation. he was referring to the Fula ethnic group.
According to him, Fulanis are Liberians, and they should not regard what other tribes people are saying about their nationality.
Sheikh Kouyateh underscored that there was no tribe when Liberia was established for freedom, and not suppression.
Meanwhile, the Former President of the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA), Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe, who inducted the new leadership of FFUSOL, urged the leadership to respect the law of the organization.
Cllr. Gongloe said respecting the law, especially when the Supreme Court of Liberia speaks on national issues, is cardinal for good governance and the rule of law.
He informed them that respecting the laws of the organization will ensure that stability and unity are fostered in the federation.
He stated that if the rule of law is not respected in the organization, there will always be confusion and instability, which could undermine the growth and development of the organization.
For his part, the President of FFUSOL, Mohammed Ali Barry, promised to ensure transparency and accountability to prevail in the federation.
President Barry stated that the federation is intended to provide opportunity for Fula students in Liberia, noting that education is important for transformation in any society.
He said under his leadership the federation will foster collaboration with other organizations, locally or internationally, to enhance the growth and development of students’ capacities in the educational sector.
He maintained that building the capacity of young Fulanis in the educational sector will go a long way in terms of social integration and the transformation of the Liberian society.
President Barry disclosed that the federation will provide 50 scholarships for underprivileged Fula students in the country.
Also speaking, the Board Chairman of the Federation of Fula Students of Liberia (FFUSOL), Sheik Y. Jalloh, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected leadership as they marked the 5th inauguration ceremony of the organization. “This moment is not just a transition of leadership, but a reaffirmation of our collective commitment to academic excellence, cultural pride, and national unity,” Board Chairman Jalloh stated.
The Board Chairman urged the incoming leadership to celebrate this milestone, recognize the journey of those who came before—those students who persevered through challenges and laid the foundation for FFUSOL to become a beacon of hope, advocacy, and empowerment for Fula students across Liberia.
He emphasized the importance of unity in purpose, and resilient in spirit. “As we move forward, may our actions reflect the values we hold dear: education, inclusion, discipline, and service. Together, we can build not only a stronger federation, but a stronger Liberia: One Struggle, One People, One Nation,” Jalloh underscored.
