The Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Jefferson Tamba Koijee, has called for the immediate arrest of former Police 102, Abraham Kromah, in regards to the incident that occurred at the Unity Party (UP) headquarters on Broad Street, which left several UP partisans dead and injured; Cynthia Quinisier writes.

Speaking to the Hot Pepper on Monday, Koijee accused AB Kromah of tempering with the crime scene and the suspect before the intervention of the Liberia National Police (LNP). According to him, Kromah contradicted himself on the Voice of Liberia (VoL) yesterday when he called in and said Stanton Whitherspoon, a resident of the United States and owner of Spoon Network, informed him that the suspect, Lawrence K. Williams, was running away and so they apprehended him and took him to the house of the President-elect, Joseph Boakai, in Paynesville, in order for him, Sam Gaye and former Police Director, Gregory Coleman, to interrogate him.

Koijee said the statement contradicts his earlier pronouncement that, after the incident occurred they caught the suspect and turned him over to the nearest police deport.

The CDC Secretary General insisted that the Liberia National Police (LNP) needs to invite AB Kromah in order for him to give account of what he knows relating to the accident scene. He disclosed that after Williams committed the “accident”, a bike-rider immediately took him away from the scene to his house and brought him back, questioning the whereabouts of the motorbike and the bike rider.

AB Kromah has however objected to Koijee’s allegations, stating that the bike rider only escaped with the suspect to safe him from mob violence. He argued that anywhere more than five police officers are assembled could be termed as a police station; as such, Ambassador Boakai’s home could be termed a station at the time because there were officers posted there to interrogate Williams.

Apparently not convincing, the CDC Secretary General wondered why Kromah, a trained police officer, would elect to jump over all the police stations from central Monrovia, including the LNP central headquarters on the By-Pass, to take him to the home of Ambassador Boakai, expressing a sense of sinister motive surrounding the scenario.

In a related development, The CDC Secretary General, Jefferson Tamba Koijee, has disclosed that the Coalition for Democracy (CDC) is in consultation with the Alternative National Congress (ANC) of Alexander B. Cummings and other political parties to form a stronger opposition.

Speaking on a talk show at Voice of Liberia on Monday, December 4, 2023, Koijee said the opposition needs to stand together in the interest of the people to checkmate the Boakai administration. He disclosed that the collaboration is an open one, as anyone could serve as the political leader/standard bearer of the collaboration.

He used the occasion to dismiss the news that there is a plan by the CDC leadership to expel President George M. Weah from the party, terming the rumor false, misleading and with no iota of truth.

As it relates to President Weah leading the CDC in 2029, Koijee said that is completely in the purview of the President and that he could not speak to that.
