Former President George Manneh Weah has broken his silence regarding the devastating fire that consumed his residence on 9th Street. Speaking at the Forky Klon Jlaleh Family Fellowship Church, President Weah recounted the events leading up to the incident, emphasizing a poignant moment with his wife.

“When we got here, my wife said, ‘Today you and I are sleeping in Rehab tonight, whether you like it or not.’ I agreed with her and said, ‘You don’t need to say it. Anywhere you want to sleep or go, I will follow you.’ At 12 in the morning, someone called me and said my house was burning on 9th Street. I simply told the person, ‘Glory be to God.’”

“It could have been worst while sleeping there,” he stated.

“I was not there, but someone called and said that my house was on fire. I don’t know what happened. This is the second time. I remembered they chased me out of that house as they set it on fire. I don’t know what happened, but to God be the glory. Yes, the flames went up, but the house stayed.”

In a twist of fate, around midnight, he said he received a call informing him that his house was ablaze. Reflecting on the unfortunate event, he simply responded, “Glory be to God,” showcasing his resilience and faith amidst adversity.

This incident has drawn attention not only for the loss of his home but also for President Weah’s calm demeanor in the face of tragedy.
