The Proprietor of Peace Home Medical Clinic, district #5, Monsterrado County, one of the oldest and populated private clinics along the 72nd community belt, Paynesville, Joseph Boakai, has called on the Government of Liberia (GOL) as well as some humanitarian organizations operating in the country to  provide the necessary support to private health facilities in Liberia.

Boakai statement is against the backdrop that most private health centers do not receive support from the Government of Liberia (GOL), thus creating serious setback within their workings.

The Peace Home Medical Clinic boss said most health centers owners establish medical facilities to buttress the government’s efforts in providing good healthcare service to the citizenry.

According to him, Peace Home Medical Clinic was established predicated upon the demand in district #5 for healthcare service delivery because of the number of dwellers of the community.

He said at first they provided service almost free of charge, but later he decided that patients pay some amounts to address the salaries of nurses who treat and take care of them.

Boakai made the disclosure on July 14, 2022 at his clinic during an interview with the Hot Pepper.

He wants the Government of Liberia (GOL) to also prioritize the training of medical petitioners in the private sector, as it is done for those working in the public sector.

When asked about the kind of support his clinic needs, he answered as saying that Peace Home Medical Clinic wants the government to help provide drugs and technical support to the clinic.    According to him, if that is addressed by the government it will help address the issue of increase in the salaries of nurses working at the facility.
