The Golden Usher of the First Assembly of God Church on Sunday, February 22,2026 celebrated its Founder’s Day.
The day was the 41st Founder’s Day and Annual Thanksgiving Service, held under the theme, “Breaking Limitations To Church Growth Through Ushering”, Isaiah 54:1-4.
Speaking at the celebration at the church edifice on Buchanan and Carey Streets in central Monrovia, the Senior Pastor of the Sinkor Assembly of God Church, Rev. Nancy Chowolo, urged ushers of the First Assembly of God Church to be dedicated to service and remain faithful in their assignment at all times.
Rev. Chowolo stated that ushers are special people in the house of God and they have crucial role to play in breaking limitations for the growth of the church in the country.
She noted that ushers are the first people reached at the entrance of the church, and they should exhibit friendliness and respect to those who come across them at the doors of the church.
She maintained that ushers are called to serve in the church, and they should avoid choosing special people but serve every individual that comes to church with respect, no matter their situation.
Rev. Chowolo underscored that ushers should be faithful and obedient to the work of God for Him to continue to bless them.
Meanwhile, the President of the Golden Usher of the First Assembly of God Church, Samuel T. Kun, said the Usher Department has initiated a program to empower women of the church, and the program is expected to raise L$1 million in support of its program.
President Kun stated that the women empowerment program, which started in 2025, targeted 50 women in the church, and 22 women have completed the program.
According to him, the remaining 28 women are pending going through the empowerment program, and the amount raised will support their training.
He explained that empowering women with vocational training will go a long way in enhancing the growth and development of women in the church.
He pointed out that the Usher Department trained five new ushers and presented them to the Advisor of the Golden Usher, Deacon Bobby Johnson, for confirmation, and the Senior Pastor of the First Assembly of God, Rev. Dr. Edwin A. Gbelly, confirmed them as ushers of the church.
President Kun indicated that the department also honored four ushers, who have served the department with commitment and dedication over the years and desire to be honored for the first time in the church.
Those confirmed are Rebecca George, Tewah Foko, Victoria Gaye and Charlesetta N. Myers, while those honored are Mother Betty Nyonsiea as Usher of the Year, Mother Rose P. Walker, Mother Kamah Franklin and Sister Christiana Tamba.
