House Adjourns Second Quarter
Members of the House of Representatives have closed for the second quarter of the 5th session of that august body.
The second quarter of the 5th session ran from May 17, 2022 to July 22, 2022.
Giving updates during the formal closing on Friday, July 22, 2022, Deputy House Speaker, Cllr. Fonati Koffa, said a total of 20 regular sessions were held, including thirteen executive sessions, 2 special sessions and 11 appearances of ministers and directors.
Deputy Speaker Koffa noted that a total number of 42 bills were introduced in the House, out of which 27 were passed, while executive bills passed were 16, Senate bills concurred-with, 4, House bills passed, 5, House Joint Resolutions, 1, certificate of extension, one.
According to the Deputy Speaker, a total of 15 bills are currently in committee room, which include 5 House bills, 3 Executive bills, 5 Senate bills and 5 petitions.
He said during the period under review the House of Representatives was able to pass a significant number of bills, which include most of the integrity bills that Liberians and the international community had looked to members of the House of Representatives to act on.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Koffa has constituted a Special Committee to steer the affairs of the House while on recess.
Those appointed are Lawrence Morris, Montserrado County; Vincent Willie, Grand Bassa County; Isaac Roland, Maryland County; Mambu Sonii, Grand Cape Mount County; Marvin Cole, Bong County; Clarence Massaquoi, Lofa County; Joseph Somwarbi, Nimba County; Erol Madison Gwion, Grand Gedeh County; Finda Lassana, Bomi County; Ellen Attoh Wreh, Margibi County; Rosanna Shack, River Cess County; Nathaniel Barway, Grand Kru County; Alexander Pour, River Gee County; Cllr. Kanio Wesso, Gbarpolu County; and Sampson Wiah, Sinoe County.
