House Summons Finance Minister Tweah

The House of Representatives has summoned Finance and Development Planning Minister, Samuel D. Tweah, to appear before the esteemed legislative body on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The Minister is called to address pressing matters related to budgetary implications.

    Despite repeated citations, the Finance Minister has failed to appear before the august body, raising concerns about transparency and accountability in financial matters. The House says they view this repeated absence as a matter of contempt, and demands that the Minister shows cause for such persistent non-compliance with legislative summons.

   Minister Tweah has been summoned to state why he should not be held in contempt by the House for his failure to appear before it after several citations.

   The scheduled appearance is set to take place in full plenary Tuesday, November 28, providing an opportunity for the Minister to engage in a constructive dialogue with members of the House and address the concerns raised regarding budgetary issues. The House emphasizes the importance of the Finance Minister’s presence to ensure a thorough examination of financial matters crucial to the nation’s well-being.

   Members of the House took the decision Monday, November 27, 2023 in its leadership meeting when the Minister of Finance was invited, but did not show up nor write an excuse letter, which the lawmakers termed as disrespectful and has the propensity to impede their legislative function.
