“I Will Dispense Justice Without Fear, Favor”; 8th Judicial Circuit Judge Vows

Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Gyapay Youh yesterday at the Temple of Justice commissioned His Honor Judge Pape Suah as Resident Judge of the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court of Nimba County.

   Early last month, the President of the Republic of Liberia, George Manneh Weah nominated Cllr. Pape Suah and Cllr. Musa S. Sidibey as Resident Circuit Judge and Resident Judge of the Sexual Offenses Division of the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court of Nimba County, respectively.

   Days after their confirmation by the Liberian Senate, a colorful ceremony was held at the ground floor hall of the Temple of Justice, Capitol Hill, where they were commissioned.

   Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, His Honor Judge Suah disclosed that, as judges, they are aware that the rule of law and access to justice are indispensable to the maintenance of peace and fostering the nation’s democracy.

   “Therefore in the discharge of our duties under the oath we’ve taken, the law shall be the law irrespective of the status of a person in the society,” His Honor Judge Suah vowed.

   Cllr. Suah is among many prominent citizens of Nimba County who has ascended to the Resident Judge position, is committed to equal justice under the law and who understands the profound impact that the court’s decisions have on the lives of the Liberian people.

   His Honor Judge Suah lauded President George M. Weah for giving them the opportunity to serve in the capacities as judges of the 8th Judicial Circuit Court, adding that they will dispense justice without fear or favor consistent with the Constitution.

   Meanwhile, the Chief Justice, Sie-A-Nyene Gyapay Youh, has cautioned the two judges to act within the confines of the law and dispense justice without fear or favor, noting that they should uphold the rule of law.
