Imam Musa Nyei To Contest District #17’s Seat In 2023
One of Liberia’s respected Muslim clerics and educators, Dr. Imam Musa Nyei, has declared his intention to contest the Montserrado County’s district #17 seat in next year’s general and presidential elections in the country.
Dr. Nyei emphasized that he hoped to join other believers in the 55th Legislature to push the nation’s political, social and spiritual agenda forward.
The Imam said Liberia needs God-fearing leaders to resurrect the country from its current agonies and transfer it into a country where the rights of citizens are well protected.
He said, “The love for material things has diverted the attention of our leaders from contributing fairly to the growth of the nation only to engage into the behavior that tend to contravene the teaching of both the Bible and the Holy Quran.”
The veteran educator called on residents of district #17 and beyond to join him in the fight to dislodge unbelievers from the National Legislature and replace them with individual that have the fear of God.
Dr. Nyei described God-fearing leaders as those that harbor no malice or use their power and influence to suppress and steal from their people, and are willing to seek the interest of their people and guide them on the path of righteousness.
The declaration of intent was made at a program making the 3rd closing and thanksgiving exercise of S.M.S Muslim Congress Foundation School, held in Breweville, outside Monrovia at the weekend.
Serving as keynote speaker at the program, the cleric said he is joining the race with the clear intention of resurrecting the district from poverty and degradation.
Dr. Imam Musa Nyei has a long career of researching and teaching the Holy Quran, an exercise that took him to several countries within the sub-region. He is currently the spokesman of the Muslim community in district #17.
