The CDC 2023 National Campaign Team has, with immediate effect, halted a planned musical concert by one of its auxiliaries on September 17—a day set by the Unity Party (UP) for its campaign launch.

Recently, the Soul Fresh Music, in collaboration with Musicians United for Weah Presidency, released a flyer disclosing the holding of a one million fan Blue Revolution concert on September 17 at the headquarters of the CDC in Congo Town.

But prior to this event, the opposition Unity Party told the public that the party has set the same date, September 17, 2023, for its nationwide campaign launch.

However, over the weekend, the Chairman of the CDC Campaign Team, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, announced the immediate suspension of what he termed as a public campaigning on September 17 in Montserrado County.

Nagbe said the decision is in recognition of the fact that the Unity Party will be launching its national campaign on the same day. According to him, this move is intended to avoid violence, enhance political coexistence and remain within the confines of the Farmington Declaration, the National Elections Law and the 1986 Liberian Constitution.

“The Weah-Taylor 2023 National Victory Campaign also hereby cancels an unauthorized concert organized by one of the party’s auxiliaries, which was scheduled for September 17, 2023. The concert will be rescheduled to a later date, in keeping with its calendar of activities as approved by NEC,” he asserted.

At the same time, the CDC National Campaign Team has mandated all partisans, auxiliaries, supporters and well-wishers of the party to refrain from organizing public political activities or gatherings within Montserrado County on September 17, 2023.
