The International Association of Lions Clubs has proudly recognized the remarkable leadership and service of Clemenceau Urey as District Governor, District 403-A2, for his leadership provided to the Lions of his district and dedication to furthering the purposes of the association as District Governor for the Lion year 2024—2025.

Lion Urey received the Presidential Medal (objectives achieved), a silver medal (154000$) and a Certificate of Appreciation. Representing Liberia on the international stage of Lionism since his ascendency, Lion Urey has demonstrated visionary leadership, dedication to humanitarian service, and an unshakable commitment to uplifting communities across Liberia and beyond the future.

“Lions have the power to shape the future. When we embrace our inherent capacity for leadership and take initiative in our services, we are unstoppable. By harnessing our unique strengths, talents and resources for good, we move forward with purpose,” Fabricio Oliveira, International President, said.

Under his stewardship, Lion Urey has championed programs aligned with the global priorities of Lions Clubs International, while addressing Liberia’s unique challenges. His achievements include community impact through spearheading nationwide outreach initiatives in eye care: the establishment of the JFK Eye Center, the establishment of Eye Centers in Grand Bassa and Nimba Counties, including six Eye Centers to be established in Montserrado, Margibi and Bomi Counties and the AMEU Computer Lab for Visually Impaired Students childhood cancer awareness, diabetes prevention, and hunger relief, directly touching the lives of thousands of Liberians.

He also made immense impact in youth empowerment: launching mentorship and leadership development programs for young people, strengthening the next generation of leaders; capacity building: strengthening club administration and leadership training across the country to ensure sustainability and effectiveness of Lions Clubs in Liberia; partnerships and collaboration: establishing strong partnerships with government institutions, NGOs, and international Lions Clubs to mobilize resources for impactful community projects; and visibility and representation: elevating Liberia’s profile within Lions Clubs International by actively participating in regional and global conventions, ensuring Liberia’s voice is heard in shaping policies and programs.

Speaking on his journey, District Governor Lion Urey thanked all Lions for their contributions to the achievements of his mandate.

He expressed gratitude for the trust bestowed upon him and reaffirmed his commitment to the Lions’ motto, “We Serve.”

Lion Urey emphasized that his achievements are not personal, but a reflection of the collective dedication of Lions across Liberia working together for the greater good.

“All in all, it is the poor, the visually impaired and others who benefited from our service and the need for such is on the increase. Therefore, we must be prepared to serve at any time the need arises.

“Where there is a need, there is a Lion.”

Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with over 1.3 million members worldwide and in 200 countries. Lions are dedicated to serving their communities, meeting humanitarian needs, encouraging peace, and promoting international understanding.
