President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. has officially nominated J. Cyrus Saygbe, Sr. as the Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA).
Saygbe has been serving in an acting capacity since May 2025, following the suspension of Emma Glasco. In his acting role, he has overseen key initiatives aimed at strengthening Liberia’s fishery and aquaculture sector, promoting sustainable practices, and enhancing regulatory compliance.
In announcing the nomination, the President expressed the confidence that Saygbe’s leadership and experience will further consolidate the gains made in the sector, enhance productivity, and contribute to national economic development.
President Boakai encouraged all stakeholders in the fisheries and aquaculture industry to support Saygbe in his new role upon confirmation as the government continues to prioritize sustainable management and growth of Liberia’s aquatic resources.
This nomination is subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
