In keeping with the fulfilment of the Bible verse, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease”, the Jonahsa Foundation Incorporation has proclaimed a $12 million investment plan that will keep benefiting Liberian children as long as the earth remains; writes Ojuku Silver-tongue Kangar, Jr.

“The funding will be used to build school, hospital, library and a medical center, with focus on mental health and agriculture development,” Dr. Keen Moore, the Foundation’s spokesperson, said. “The vision is to take the organization to the next level through massive development initiatives, targeting school-going children.”

The humanitarian organization, which was established in 2015 after the Ebola epidemic to carter to children, especially the unprivileged, orphans and low-income families across Liberia, has had tremendous impact on the citizens.

Over the years, it has invested hugely in grassroots education, agriculture and mental health. “We want the government of Liberia to cooperate with us to obtain all necessary documents that will enable us to kickstart the project in Liberia,” Dr. Moore said to dozens of children via telephone from the United States during the anniversary celebration on Sunday.

The life-benefiting pronouncement was made over the weekend at GSA Road, Paynesville, when the organization commemorated it 7th anniversary in a grand style.

The $12 million, according to Dr. Moore, will be invested in education, agriculture, mental health and other priority areas, for six years. She reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to programs that will impact the lives of grassroots children and ordinary citizens through job creation in the country.

“We will need qualified Liberians to be hired to help us drive this vision, as we will be accepting application of qualified Liberians upon our arrival in Liberia,” Dr. Keen said, but fell short to disclose their date of arrival.

In a patriotic tone, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jonahsa Foundation, Jonah Barcon, used the occasion to thank all volunteers, partners and donors for their unflinching support and services to the children of Liberia.

“I remain hopeful of the foundation’s investment and the impact it will make on the Liberian society,” he said in a concluding statement.
