–Dr. Cassell Descends On CPP

The Political Leader of the People Liberation Party (PLP), Dr. Daniel E. Cassell, has insisted that people should not crucify the entire opposition because of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), as the PLP is not a part of the CPP. According to him, the PLP has brought about an unprecedented paradigm shift in the body politics of the country, emphasizing that they are the new breed of politicians in the country.

Dr. Cassell underscored that the PLP has positioned itself to be the replacement of President George M. Weah’s administration, and he can assured the citizenry of their willingness and preparedness.

According to him, before the coming of the PLP into the Liberian politics, Liberians were hoping that the CPP would restore their hopes, and they have every right to do so, because they thought that the CPP was going to hold together and collaborate, but unfortunately they have clearly demonstrated to the Liberian people what they are made of and their inability to maturely and effectively resolve their issues, which is in sharp contrast to the PLP.

“My view of the opposition is two-fold: the demise or collapse of the CPP does not represent the fate of all opposition political parties, particularly the PLP…no! On the other hand, the CPP has shown to our Liberian people their inability to maturely and effectively resolve inter-personal conflicts and govern themselves accordingly. How, then, could we trust them to handle bigger issues?”

He said the PLP is holding talks with other political parties that align with them in ideology in the interest of the country, but ruled out talks with the Unity Party (UP), noting that their political ideology does not align. He said he has not met Cummings yet, but has been in talks with some of the ANC leaders. According to him, he does not see them vying for the presidency as enemies.

He clearly stated that he is the Standard Bearer of the PLP, and so is Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai, and both of them hail from Lofa County; therefore, it is not possible for them to form an alliance.

As it relates to giving Ambassador Boakai the opportunity to run due to their age disparity, Dr. Cassell said, “I’m not looking for job; I create jobs. It’s not about employment, and I think we should not inject the issue of age here. We are at the critical juncture in the history of our country. We should look for some of the brightest brains, with tenacity, political will, wisdom, knowledge and experience to get the job done, as well as someone who knows how to make decisive decisions and not someone who rely on others to make decisions for them. So we have to snap out of the thinking about age and all of that…”

He noted that the Weah administration is not doing much for the citizenry, and the scenario is like when one deserves jollof rice but is being given fried-fish dry rice. According to him, the Weah administration is hurriedly rehabilitating roads in its fifth year only to leave the impression that they did something positive in their first term, and so the people should give them a second term.

He bad-mouthed the regime’s free tuition scheme at public schools, noting that they are not living up to it. He said the last time he checked UL instructors were demonstrating for salaries.

Dr. Cassell spoke on a wide range of issues when he appeared on the OK Conversation with Julius Jeh on Monday, February 21, 2022, and declared that he would prefer a female running mate, as he is an advocate of gender balance.
