As the US-Israel war with Iran is a global concern, causing surging in fuel price and security threat, the Government of Liberia (GOL) has assured the stability of the economy.
“Government is in charge and on top of the game; there is no need to panic of any challenge,” Presidential Press Secretary Atty. Kula Fofana said.
She made the disclosure on Friday, during the Executive Mansion’s usual press briefing at the Mansion.
On February 28, 2026, United States of America and Israel declared war on Iran. The war, which is now 10 days running, has caused international concern, passengers being stranded in the Middle East, gulf nations being assailed by Iran Revolutionary Guards because they are associated with the United States of America and Israel.
Iran’s retaliatory strikes on gulf nations and Israel have blocked fuel and petrol flow, as Strait of Hormuz which is one of the major routes for fuel ship transportation, is being blocked by Iran’s military, which has vowed to bomb any ship using it.
According to BBC, Iran warned vessels not to use the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway through which 20% of the world’s oil and gas is transported after the US and Israel launched airstrikes on the country.
But the Government of Liberia (GOL) is not deterred about the situation, informing citizens not to worry about the Middle East war’s trigger down effect on the world and Africa.
“We are all safe and following everything in the Middle East. The public will be informed if there will be a hike in price through the Ministry of Information and the press secretary,” President’s Boakai’s mouthpiece said.
In a related development, the President’s first cabinet meeting of 2026 was held on Thursday, which addressed the full implementation of the ARREST agenda: Agriculture, Road, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation and Tourism.
According to Press Secretary Atty. Fofana, the government’s agenda implementation is on course, citing 2025 December 284 implemented that represents 73.95%, covering pillars on economic, infrastructure, economic growth, 83 investments were planned, eight completed and 62 on-going. She added that the cabinet meeting addressed progresses being made.
Other issues discussed during the press briefing were the President setting up a committee to investigate Nimba County land dispute case, and nominating Vice President Jeremiah Koung to vet companies to mine the Putu Mountain for more job opportunities.
Meanwhile, the economic team of the President will update the public about anything about the Middle East that will hamper the economy, among others.
