The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has achieved a commendable score of 88 percent in the 2025 Compliance Scorecard released by the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), underscoring the authority’s strong adherence to public financial management and institutional governance standards.
The report was officially presented on Friday, March 27, 2026, at LiMA’s headquarters in Congo Town, Monrovia.
Speaking during the presentation, the Executive Director for Audit Services at the IAA, Moses Kessely, explained that the compliance scorecard evaluates public institutions based on adherence to ten priority areas established by the agency, including finance, revenue management, procurement, and human resource administration, among others.
According to Kessely, LiMA’s 88 percent rating reflects a high level of compliance across these critical operational areas. However, he noted that the authority’s score could further improve if specific recommendations outlined in the report are fully addressed.
For his part, LiMA’s Audit Focal Person, Desire Satia, attributed the achievement to strengthened systems of accountability and transparency within the institution. He emphasized that these reforms have been driven by the strategic leadership of the Commissioner/CEO, Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr.
Satia reaffirmed LiMA’s commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and collaboration with oversight institutions, including the Internal Audit Agency, to ensure continuous institutional improvement.
The 2025 compliance score positions LiMA among the stronger performing public institutions in Liberia’s governance and accountability framework, reflecting on-going efforts to enhance operational efficiency and public sector integrity.
