Authorities of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) have sent back Manoj Kumar Vatwani, an elderly man, to Sierra Leone for illegal entry into Liberia.

The action of the LIS authorities is in compliance with Annex 9 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (ICAO) and Section 5.90 of the Alien and Nationality Law of Liberia.

Based on intelligence gathered, Vatwani’s passport did not have LIS entrance stamp in it, which is a violation of the Alien and Nationality Law of Liberia.

Section 5.90 of the Alien and Nationality Law of Liberia states, “Any alien who enters Liberia at any time or place other than as designated by law, eludes examination or inspection by immigration, or obtains entry into Liberia by a willful false or misleading representation or the concealment of a material fact, shall be subject to a fine or a jail sentence for up to one year, or both.”

During the LIS interrogation of Vatwani, he admitted of his illegal entry into Liberia through neighboring Sierra Leone.

Meanwhile, authorities of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) have informed all foreigners wanting to enter Liberia to do the rightful things, in compliance with the Alien and Nationality Law of Liberia.
