LIS Embarks On One-Week Retreat In Buchanan

As part of the commitment from the side of the new administration of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), headed by Elijah Rufus and his team of deputies, officers of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) are currently in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, for a one-week in-house retreat at the administrative building.

   The one-week in-house retreat is a whole day intensive working session of the LIS to review the institution’s policies and five-year workplan as a sensitive institution of the Government of Liberia (GOL) responsible for protecting its territorial boundaries.

   According to information gathered from the administration of the LIS, the in-house retreat aimed at addressing challenges confronting the LIS.

   The following policies are under review at the retreat: finance, procurement, fleet, welfare, logistics, human resource, among others.

   For many years LIS has not gone for retreat meant to evaluate its workings, predicted upon the need for, from the side of the new administration at the LIS, the current leadership headed by Rufus deemed it necessary to review its working materials and work plans as well in executing its mandate as required by law and best practices.

   The one-week in-house retreat started on June 7, 2025 and is expected to end on June 14, 2025 in Buchanan.

   The on-going LIS in-house retreat has brought together the Commissioner General and his competent deputies. Directors, sectional heads, and some senior officers are also gracing the occasion.
