LIS’ Long-Serving COS Appointed Dep. Commission General

Colonel Elijah F. Rufus, one of the longest serving chiefsof office staff to commissioner generals at the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), has been appointed to the position of Deputy Commissioner General for Administration (U-301).

  Colonel Rufus has worked with the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) for over twenty consecutive years, and climbing the rank and file of a number of positions at the LIS.

  Colonel Rufus’ task at the LIS was to assist the office of the Commissioner General (U-300) in developing the institution’s policies, establishing and maintainingworking relationship and channeling communications to other government agencies, ministries and diplomatic missions.

  In 2010—2014, as Special Assistant to the office of the Commissioner General, he served as policy advisor, monitoring and supervising subordinate officers assigned at the Commissioner General’s office.

  Colonel Rufus has served in the rank and file of the LIS, and for over twenty consecutive years he has served Commissioner Generals as Administrative Assistant, Special Assistant and Chief of Office Staff.

  Colonel Rufus holds a bachelor of arts degree in sociology with emphasis in public administration, and is currently a candidate for master’s degree at the Graduate School of Public Administration, University of Liberia.

  Since his preferment as U-301, officers of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) have been celebrating at the headquarters of the LIS, and are awaiting his confirmation. According to them, one of them has been appointed. They said he understands the issues confronting the forward match of immigration officers because he is one of them. 

  Colonel Rufus was recently appointed by His Excellency President Joseph N. Boakai to serve as the principaldeputy for administration to the Commissioner General.
