LIS Officers Depart For Drone Training In South Africa

Following intensive online studies in drone formalities, three officers from the Liberia immigration Service (LIS) have departed the country for a one-month practical training in drone operation and surveillance technology in South Africa.

   This training was sponsored by the Liberia immigration Service (LIS). This initiative marks a significant milestone for the Government of Liberia (GOL), as it represents the first-time drone technology will be utilize to monitor Liberia’s borders.

   Authorities of the LIS have described the opportunity as a dream come through for the institution and the country at large.

   According to a LIS release, the drone operation and surveillance training reflect the LIS’s strong commitment to embracing innovation and deploying modern tools to enhance border management and national security.

   The following officers are participating in the on-going drone training in South Africa: Wulu J. Gee, Harris S. Smith, and Simeon A. Sherman.
